New, Improved SP Strand Pelletizers

Coperion has equipped its SP series of dual-bearing strand pelletizers with new features designed to minimize downtime during product changes. The handling of the new SP strand pelletizers has been simplified, while still delivering consistently superior pellet quality.

Coperion’s SP series strand pelletizers are available in three sizes—SP140, SP 240, and SP 340—catering to throughputs ranging from 100 to 3,000 kg/h. At our Coperion booth B19 in Hall 14 at K 2022, we’ll be showcasing an SP340 strand pelletizer as a prime example of the entire product line.

Handling, Cleanability, and Cut Quality Enhanced

We have upgraded our SP strand pelletizers specifically to minimize downtime associated with frequent product changes and further enhance pellet quality.

The new SP strand pelletizer features a cutting chamber design that is significantly more compact than its predecessor. The product strand intake area has been optimized to ensure strands are now continuously and directly guided into the cutting section—at an ideal angle as they enter the cutting zone. Additionally, the flanges on the cutting rotor have been refined to maximize utilization of the rotor’s full width. As a result, cut quality remains consistently high, even when processing soft polymers.

Moreover, the cutting chamber features virtually no dead space anywhere, thanks to its compact design. This significantly shortens the time required for system cleaning.

The cutting gap can now be adjusted quickly and comfortably, with no tools required. Setup times for pelletizing startup or product changes are significantly reduced, making the operation of the SP strand pelletizer highly efficient.

The entire cutting area is accessible without tools, and the cutting unit can be exchanged quickly and effortlessly as a single piece, further minimizing machine downtime for maintenance or other tasks.

These new, optimized SP strand pelletizers are now available, impressing manufacturers not only with their cutting-edge features but also with their proven technology. Highlights include a pellet outlet chute equipped with soundproof cladding, a frequency-controlled rotor drive and upper feed roll, as well as pneumatic control of the feed roll pressure—adjustable directly from the control panel via an air pressure display.
