The liquid gravimetric loss-in-weight feeder meets ATEX requirements and can be connected to any of the barrels in the extruder process section. This flexible feeding capability also extends to the API gravimetric loss-in-weight feeder, which can be mounted either on the first or fourth barrel of the process section. This setup enables the ZSK extruder to handle processes that require either a 32 L/D or a 20 L/D process length.
Gravimetric feeders also provide flexibility in handling a wide range of materials, including those with challenging flow characteristics and variable feeding rates. This versatility, combined with advanced digital weighing and control technology, ensures precise material delivery—crucial for maintaining the efficiency of continuous pharmaceutical processes.

• With a maximum throughput rate of 10 kg/h, the ZSK 18 MEGAlab is suitable for both wet extrusion and hot melt extrusion (HME) at the laboratory scale.
• For wet extrusion processes, the system includes more than ten different die plates, each featuring varying numbers of die holes and hole diameters. For hot-melt extrusion applications, the ZSK extruder is equipped with a die head that has several interchangeable nozzles, allowing for the production of strands with different diameters.
• The die head features additional bore holes for PAT (Process Analytical Technology) sensors.

The ZSK extruder itself, along with all peripheral equipment, is remarkably compact in size and can be easily moved on wheels, making it ideal for optimal use in laboratory settings. The GAMP control system, as well as the water-cooling manifold, is integrated into the stainless-steel base frame of the ZSK extruder. Thanks to plug-and-play connections, commissioning can be completed in record time.
Thanks to the geometric consistency within the ZSK series, the ZSK 18 MEGAlab system enables proven scale-up to larger ZSK extruder sizes and higher throughput rates. This is one of the most critical requirements for a successful laboratory installation.
