Overview Introduction
Candy and chocolate
The current growth in the global candy industry encompasses three key areas:
• A company that manufactures chocolate directly from cocoa beans,
• A company that uses its purchased chocolate to manufacture confectionery products,
• And companies that produce non-chocolate candies.
The non-chocolate candy section includes a variety of products, such as jelly beans, chewing gum/bubble gum, licorice, and hard candies.

What are a few tips for selecting a feeder designed to handle adhesive materials?
It depends on the process requirements, material properties, and the feed rate needed to deliver the material into the process. For instance, when using a single-screw feeder to handle adhesive materials, it’s common for the material to fling out of the helical grooves in the screw discharge tube and subsequently stick to the tube walls. Over time, this buildup can lead to fluctuations in the feeder’s output, disrupting its otherwise consistent performance. In such scenarios, a co-rotating twin-screw design would be the superior choice. Twin-screw systems are often preferred for more viscous powders because the "self-cleaning" action between the two screws not only facilitates efficient material transport but also minimizes—or even eliminates—any accumulation of sticky materials inside the discharge tube.
Additionally, different screw type configuration options can optimize the feeder's performance when handling sticky materials. For instance, if the powder exhibits stickiness due to high moisture content or a high-fat composition—such as in food ingredients—then a fine-pitch twin-screw design might create an extrusion effect, inadvertently releasing moisture and leading to further material buildup issues. In such cases, a screw configuration with wider gaps between the helical grooves, like a spiral design, could be more suitable.
Finally, consider applying a specific anti-stick coating to the feeder components that come into contact with the material. For food and pharmaceutical applications, FDA-approved coatings are available, often proving highly effective when handling non-free-flowing and sticky materials.
If high throughput is required or low headroom presents a challenge, the belt weigh feeder is the ideal solution. Typically, sticky materials pose an additional hurdle for belt weigh feeders, as they tend to accumulate on the belt and distort weighing results, compromising the accuracy of the feeding rate over time. To address this issue, we’ve incorporated a second weighing bridge into the design, along with associated control systems, to compensate for these weighing inaccuracies and ensure continuous belt calibration. This innovative design option delivers unmatched precision while minimizing downtime for maintenance and recalibration. Additionally, incorporating scrapers into the belt weigh feeder design further helps mitigate potential negative effects.Download the product specification sheet
